Teaching & Community
My work with various design communities (like AIGA Raleigh and Creative Mornings RDU) in 2020 led to a caricature gig to increase voter turnout in the November election, leading a few really fun community meetings for AIGA, teaching preteens and teens the basics of design, and helping scientists up their PowerPoint game.
Presented for Networking Scientists Group
I shared the fundamentals of design with a networking group of scientists (Triangle Biotech Tuesday) so they could make their PowerPoints more engaging for both internal and conference presentations.
Classes at Crafts and Drafts
I taught a number of classes at my local bar and craft shop @craftsanddraftsnc both prior to and (cautiously) during the pandemic. My classes rotated through Watercolor, Acrylic, Calligraphy, and Caricatures. During watercolor classes, attendees practiced wet on wet and wet on dry techniques and then applied those to hand-drawn sketches and portraits made by me beforehand.

One participant said, "I brought this game of Bananagrams in case the class sucked. Didn't even pull it out. Great job! Five out of five.” 😄
Classes With the Durham Arts Council
I taught a virtual summer intensive for teenagers “Basics of Graphic Design” in the summer of 2020. We went over fundamental concepts and the students created some great projects!
